Registering an Application

Once you have created an account and registered as a developer with Opala, you can register one or more applications that will, after approval, be available in Opala's App Gallery.

Opala's developer portal utilizes a white-labeled app registration wizard built for ease of use and to provide everything a developer needs to showcase their App to the reviewers and potential consumers in the App Gallery.

To run the wizard:

1. Open the Opala Developer Portal page and select the Get Started button.
2. On the sign-in page, enter your username and password to log in to your account.
   

   Note: You must go to the login page from the main Developer Portal page to log in. If you bookmark the login page and try to sign in directly from that (without going through the Developer Portal) you will receive an error.

   Note: If you do not have an account, you must first create an account with Opala before you can register an application.

3. On the Developer Portal page, select the button.
   This opens the registration wizard, enabling you to register an application with Opala.
• Step 1. Enter the application's name, then select Next.
• Step 2. Enter the following information, then select Next.
  • Select the supported operating system(s).
  • Enter the URL of the application's home page. This is the location where the app's download site can be found.
  • Enter the URL of the webpage providing the application's Privacy Policy.
  • Enter the URL of the webpage describing the application's Terms of Service.
  • In the Default OAuth Redirect URL field, enter the URL to which members are redirected upon successful authentication.
  • Enter any additional OAuth Redirect URLs. Uses one line per URL.
• Step 3. Enter descriptions for the application, then select Next.
• Enter the URL to upload an icon for the application.
• Enter a short description of the application using between 20 and 150 characters. This will be displayed in the Application Gallery.
• Enter a longer description of the application using between 200 and 1000 characters. This will be displayed in the Application Gallery.
• Step 4. Select all applicable items for the following categories, then select Next.
  • Audience Category
  • App Use Category
  • FHIR Version Supported
  • Privacy and Security Compliance
  • In the Confidentiality field, indicate whether the app runs in an execution environment that enables the app to protect client secrets (Confidential), or whether the app runs in an execution environment that does not protect client secrets (Public).
• Step 5. List the scopes requested by your application.
  
  • Opala suggests using the following scopes (at minimum) for developers:
    openid profile
    fhirUser launch/patient offline_access online_access openid patient/*.read profile

  Note: openid and profile are default scopes already included in the client definition.

• Step 6. Enter any notes that might help the reviewer to evaluate the submission. If this is a re-submission, you are required to summarize the changes that have been made.
• Step 7. Read and accept the legal attestation.
  If you decline the legal attestaion your application will still be included in the Application Gallery, but will be displayed with a warning for members that the app is unsecured.
4. Select Submit.
   The wizard returns you to the Developer Portal, where the application is now listed. At this point, the application's status is In Review.
